Xinjiang is an important location in the opening up of the ancient Silk Road. Before the opening up of the sea route of the ancient Silk Road between the last century B. C. and 10th century A. D.,it had been an important land passage which connected the continents of Europe and Asia, and its historical contribution toward East-West economic and cultural interchanges cannot be obliterated.
