During the Spring Festival holiday, the festive atmosphere in parks in Urumqi, Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region attracted 660, 800 tourists from all directions, the Urumqi Forestry Bureau announced on Feb 22.

　　Eight major parks in Urumqi, including Xinjiang Snow Mountain Wildlife Park, People's Park, Hongshan Park, South Park, Botanical Garden, Children's Park, Shuimogou Park and Snow Mountain Park welcomed 409, 300 tourists, while parks in districts and counties received 251, 500.

　　A total of 87,318 people visited Shuimogou Park, a significant increase compared to the 79, 000 who arrived for last year's Spring Festival.

　　The number of tourists at Hongshan Park peaked at 52,722 on the fifth day of the first month of the Chinese lunar calendar

　　The parks held various Spring Festival activities. Hongshan Park put on its second ice and snow fair from the first day to the fifteenth day in the first month of the Chinese lunar calendar. The activities included food shows, folk performances, lantern riddle guessing, lion dances and paper cutting exhibitions.

　　Botanical Garden held a fifteenth Urumqi Silk Road Ice and Snow Festival. It included a snow sculpture exhibition, an ice and snow tour and a Spring Festival shopping fair.

　　People's Park invited renowned calligraphers to write Spring Festival couplets to give as presents to visitors.
