Debut of Xinjiang salmon at China-Eurasia Expo

Xinjiang Daily News (by reporter Zhao Xiya, Chao Jin and Xie Long) "I never expected that people in Xinjiang also can eat chilled local salmon because we are far away from the ocean." said Zhang Wen, a Urumqi citizen, after foretasting salmon at a stall in Hall 4 of Xinjiang International Exhibition Center on September 21st.

It is learned that the salmon are from the Nilka River and it’s Xinjiang Tianyun Organic Agriculture Co., Ltd. who introduced the roe from Alaska in 2013 to breed. After being bred for three years, each fish has reached about 3.5 kg now. Their show at this year’s China-Eurasia Expo is their debut. The salmon from Xinjiang Tianyun Organic Agriculture Co., Ltd are fed with feedstuff which has obtained green certification. There isn’t any hormones and drugs used in the whole course of breeding. Compared with the imported chilled salmon of same quality and texture, the overall cost decreases more than 1/3 due to shorter transportation distance. At this year’s China-Eurasia Expo, the Company has signed long-term cooperation agreements with more than ten five-star hotels in Xinjiang and discussed on cooperation with the neighboring countries in central Asia.
