The Ministry of Foreign Affairs Holds a Briefing for Diplomatic Envoys in China on Xinjiang-related Issues

  On February 22, 2019, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs held a briefing on Xinjiang-related issues. Vice Foreign Minister Zhang Hanhui chaired the briefing. Member of the Standing Committee of the Communist Party of China of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region and Vice-Chairman of Government of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region Arkin Tuniyazi comprehensively introduced Xinjiang's development achievements in various aspects covering the economic and social field and the work for precautionary measures against terrorism and deradicalization upon invitation.

  Diplomatic envoys in China and representatives of diplomatic envoys from more than 80 countries and international organizations attended the briefing. During the interaction and communication, the diplomatic envoys expressed that the detailed introduction from the Chinese side helped them understand Xinjiang comprehensively and objectively. Terrorism is the common enemy of mankind. Xinjiang's measures against terrorism and deradicalization are not only conducive to the stability and development of Xinjiang, but also carry great significance to the fight against terrorism worldwide. Its successful experience is worth learning.

  Vice Foreign Minister Zhang Hanhui stressed that Xinjiang's efforts against terrorism and deradicalization blazed a new trail for addressing both the symptoms and root causes of terrorism, a problem facing the whole world. Such efforts should be applauded. China will continuously make due contributions to the international fight against terrorism, work together with various countries to safeguard peace and development of the world and join hands to build a community with a shared future for mankind.
