URUMQI, May 22 (Xinhua) -- The railway connecting Karamay and Tacheng, two cities in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region will open on May 30, according to China Railway Urumqi Group Co., Ltd.

The railway will help Tacheng, the only capital of the prefectures in Xinjiang without rail lines, connect to the railway network in China.

The railway stretches 271 km, including 75 km in windstorm-stricken area.
