Philippines upbeat about China's economic recovery from novel coronavirus epidemic

MANILA, Feb. 14 (Xinhua) -- The Philippine government on Friday expressed confidence in China's economic recovery from the novel coronavirus epidemic.

"We hope for the best and we are confident that China will be able to bounce back from the challenges," Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles told a news conference.

Stressing the significance of supporting China in its fight against the virus, Nograles said China is vital to the global economy as it is a leading trade partner not only for the Philippines, but also many other nations.

"I think the sooner that China overcomes these challenges, the better it is for the rest of the world," he said.

"We hope that China will be able to get back to its usual business. Even given the challenges ... right now, we're confident that you (China) will be able to overcome these challenges," Nograles noted.
