Thailand's governor expresses gratidute for China's donation of face masks

BANGKOK, May 26 (Xinhua) -- Somsak Changtrakul, the governor of Thailand's northeastern Province of Khon Kaen, on Tuesday received 100,000 face masks donated by China via Liao Junyun, consular-general at the Chinese Consulate.

"On behalf of the northeastern residents, I would like to express my deepest gratitude to the Chinese people of their good intention to help the Thais in containing the pandemic," Somsak said in Khon Kaen city hall.

The Khon Kaen provincial governor said the 100,000 face masks will be distributed to various state units and residents.

Like Bangkok in mid March, Khon Kaen Province announced shutdown measures after several cases of infection were confirmed in the province.

The Center for COVID-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) said that in May Khon Kaen had only recorded an estimated 100 cases of COVID-19.
