How herders in China's Xinjiang rise above poverty

Yesklek Village of Tekes County of Ili Kazak Autonomous Prefecture, northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region was once an impoverished village deep in Mount Tianshan. For generations, herders have been grazing sheep and cattle from one pasture to another. The local government has taken multiple measures to alleviate poverty. In July this year, an employment promotion market was established in the village. It provides rent-free locations and free facilities for those who want to run restaurants, supermarkets, hair salons, etc. Free training is also provided to help villagers find better jobs.
