15 items of intangible cultural heritage from Xinjiang added to list

Xinjiang has seen 15 more items listed into this year's national intangible cultural heritage representatives, of which six were enrolled for the first time on the list, the regional cultural and tourism authority said.

The Ministry of Culture and Tourism recently released the list of the fifth batch of national intangible cultural heritage representatives. There are 337 different items, selected from 943 nationwide.

The six new items from Northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, fall into five different categories, from folk art and music to sports. For example, a tap dance from Tacheng prefecture is included.
