Xinjiang resident delivers food to police officers to show gratitude

A food seller in China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region delivered naan bread to a group of police officers on duty in the city of Kuqa, to show his appreciation for their work. A video recording the move has gone viral after it was posted on social media. 61-year-old Rishit Hemit is an inheritor of Kuqa naan-making, a local intangible cultural heritage. After his gesture was captured by a CCTV camera, he said he just wanted to express his gratitude. "365 days a year, the police force works day and night to ensure safety. They are giving their best. I wish them successful careers and happy lives," said Hemit.
