Solemn Statement by the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Regional Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference on Refuting Former US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo’s Xinjiang-related Lies

Days ago, Mike Pompeo, former US Secretary of State smeared China’s polity related to Xinjiang as “genocide”,“crimes against humanity ” at the last moment of his office for his own political interests, which interferes in China’s internal affairs, is a mockery of international law and norms governing international relations, and malicious insulting to all ethnic groups in Xinjiang with vicious intentions. The democratic parties, people’s organizations, personages without party affiliation and members from all ethnic groups and different sectors of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference would like to express resolute opposition and strong condemnation.

In the last years, the worst secretary of state in U.S. history spared no efforts to manipulating issues related to Xinjiang with habitual lying,gangster logic and CIA’s trick of trouble maker and arsonist. He crossed the moral bottom line time and again to disperse sensational fake news. He cooked up numerous no-existent lies and took a series of mad actions. He succeeded in turning himself to be doomsday clown and played the diplomacy of lies to the extreme with his hysteric performance.

His means to slander Xinjiang are ridiculous and inferior. He made a big fuss about Xinjiang by making use of some “actors”, and he even invited Mihrigul Tursun, a shameless habitual liar with notorious record, to attend the hearing of Congressional-Executive Commission on China and to shared her so-called “personal experiences.” Pompeo insisted on awarding International Women of Courage Award to Shaylagul Sawutbay, who was suspected of crossing border illegally and committed loan fraud. It is a sheer disgrace and blasphemy to the award and human rights.

His tricks to slander Xinjiang are mean and shameless. As is well known, the Eastern Turkistan Islamic Movement (ETIM) is not only designated as terrorist organization by the United Nations Security Council, but also recognized as terrorist organization by the international community. For a long time, under the disguise of religion, ETIM has dispersed extremism, and incited and carried out a series of terrorist incidents, causing great causalities and loss of property. In spite of the fact that ETIM wrecked Xinjiang by spreading extremism, inciting ethnic hatred, impairing women and children and carrying out terrorist activities, Pompeo argued blindly for terrorism, revoked designation of ETIM as a “terrorist organization”, and acted brazenly as sponsor of terrorism. This fully exposed the double standard of Pompeo and his hypocrisy in using or abandoning terrorist organization in line of their own interests.

His practices to slander Xinjiang are absurd and laughable. Pompeo often quoted the so-called Xinjiang-related reports fabricated by the Australian Strategic Policy Institute and Adrian Zenz, an anti-China scholar, and wantonly slandered our policies on governing Xinjiang. Media outlets home and abroad have exposed multiple times that Adrian Zenz makes his living by cooking up anti-China rumors and slandering China. His reports are flooded with fake data, wishful speculations and manipulation of numbers; he himself is an academic cheater and political puppet of anti-China forces from head to toe. To pander to the interest of its funders, Australian Strategic Policy Institute has been obsessed with fabricating and hyping any anti-China agendas. Far from being an academic institute, it is a tool controlled and manipulated by some politicians, particularly on Xinjiang-related issues, the already notorious institute has bent on churning out falsehoods totally out of thin air and speculation. Ignoring fact, Pompeo, however, has looked up to Zenz’s lies as the standard, incessantly making an issue of and pinning evil labels on Xinjiang. He respects no moral boundaries and has no sense of shame at all.

As a matter of fact, under the efforts of people of all ethnic groups, Xinjiang now enjoys social stability, economic development and people live in peace and contentment. No violent or terrorist activities have occurred in Xinjiang for more than 4 years. People's safety have been protected effectively. Xinjiang protected the rights and interests of workers according to law. We have tried our best to provide professional training to people of all ethnic groups, increase employment, encourage and help the people to pursue better lives through hard work. Xinjiang has witnessed steady and healthy economic growth. Under current standard, the impoverished people, poor villages and counties have all been lifted out of poverty in Xinjiang. We have achieved decisive triumph in poverty alleviation. People’s right to religious belief is fully guaranteed and respected. Normal religious activities carried out by believers of various ethnic groups were protected by law and conducted according to their own will. Muslims’ normal religious activities are protected by law. The languages and culture, customs and fine traditions of ethnic minorities are well protected and developed. Their right to education is fully guaranteed and fulfilled. The nine-year compulsory education has been provided to cover the whole region, while in Southern Xinjiang the three-year preschool nursery and twelve-year fundamental education are free to all kids. The social and medical security has been improved. People of all ethnic groups in Xinjiang lead a peaceful and harmonious life.

Lies cannot take the place of truth and justice is in people’s hearts. Pompeo’s lies full of fallacies viciously intend to destroy Xinjiang’s stability, impede Xinjiang’s development, and mislead global public opinions. However, his crazy acts are the last-ditch struggles. This reckless “ Doomsday insane” which called white black is destined to failure. It is doomed to be a dead-end illusion.
