For a long time, Mr. Pompeo, the former US Secretary of State, has made a series of untrue remarks to discredit China. In particular, he deliberately slandered the situation of human rights in Xinjiang, wantonly discredited China’s efforts to eradicate extremism and combat terrorism, and maliciously attacked the Chinese government’s policy of ruling Xinjiang, which, obviously, seriously violates international law and the basic norms of international relations, and seriously interferes in China’s internal affairs. He deliberately provoked China’s ethnic relations, wiped out Xinjiang’s development achievements in recent years, and ignored the real feelings of the masses of all ethnic groups in Xinjiang, which once again exposed his evil and sinister intentions of pursuing hegemonism.

Only when safety is ensured, can the human rights be protected. To crack down on terrorist activities in accordance with the law and to ensure the safety of people’s lives and property of all ethnic groups is the most fundamental protection of human rights. When violent and terrorist activities occur frequently in Xinjiang, nowhere can the “teachers” like Pompeo be found, and they don’t care about human rights in Xinjiang at all. Now that Xinjiang has developed into a harmonious and stable society, Pompeolike people remark wantonly, pretending to care about the so-called “human rights” and interfere in China’s internal affairs, for fear that Xinjiang will not be in chaos. Their sinister intention is apparent. In face of the threat of terrorism and extremism, Xinjiang has taken effective measures to combat and prevent terrorism and extremism in accordance with the law, having effectively curbed the frequent occurrence of terrorist activities and maximally protected the basic rights of the people of all ethnic groups, such as the right to survival and development.

Adhering to the principle of treating both the symptoms and the root causes and combining combating measures and prevention measures together, Xinjiang has established vocational education and training centers according to law, and carried out vocational education and training work, which effectively curbs the frequent occurrence of terrorist activities, and maximally guarantees the basic rights of people of all ethnic groups, such as the right to life, the right to health, and the right to development. At present, there have been no violent terrorist cases (incidents) in Xinjiang for more than four consecutive years. The number of criminal cases and public security cases, including security related cases and public security incidents, has dropped sharply. The infiltration of extremism has been effectively curbed. The social security situation has improved significantly, and people of all ethnic groups in Xinjiang are enjoying peaceful and secure life.

Pompeolike people do not and are unwilling to see this fact. They spread a lot of untrue remarks on Xinjiang related issues with the intention of provoking ethnic dissensions, undermining Xinjiang’s social stability, hindering Xinjiang's development, and misleading international public opinion. Once again, we solemnly urge Pompeo to respect the facts, stop fabricating lies, and stop interfering in China’s internal affairs. Otherwise, the no so-called “political legacy” can be kept nowhere.

As to Xinjiang affairs, the 25 million people of all ethnic groups in Xinjiang have the most say. The people of all ethnic groups in Xinjiang have good knowledge about the situation of human rights in Xinjiang and they are very clear about the effectiveness of the anti-extremism and anti-terrorism measures in Xinjiang. To resolutely combat terrorism is to protect the human rights of the people of all ethnic groups in Xinjiang. No one can wipe out the basic fact that Xinjiang is getting better and better.
