Recently, I was extremely indignant and dissatisfied when I heard Mr. Pompeo’s false remarks of attacking and smearing Xinjiang. Pompeo and his gang have fabricated all kinds of lies, including Xinjiang related issues. It is a great insult to the 25 million people of all ethnic groups in Xinjiang and a betrayal and challenge to the international morality and basic conscience. As a Uygur in Xinjiang, I express my strong dissatisfaction and firm opposition!

Pompeo’s attack on Xinjiang for arbitrarily imprisoning Uygurs and people of other ethnic minorities and depriving them of their personal freedom is a vicious rumor. It is a thief’s cry to catch a thief. During Pompeo’s term of office, he allowed racial discrimination to run rampant, and the death of Freud, an African American man, caused large-scale riots. Pompeo not only let it go and did nothing, but also stirred up dissension and incited hatred. Instead of caring about the affairs of his own country, Pompeo jumped out to criticize China’s internal affairs. When he was about to be driven out of his office, he was like a mad dog, wantonly attacking and smearing Xinjiang, once again exposing the ugliness of “the worst and the most shameless Secretary of State in the history of USA”. Pompeo’s actions violate international axioms and basic values, and stray away from what is allowed by human morality and basic conscience.

I was born in Turpan in the 1970s and grew up step by step from the grassroots. Like the masses of all ethnic groups in Xinjiang, we have been growing up under the care and grace of the party and the government and experienced the development, reform, and construction of Xinjiang. I remember when I was a child, my family lived in a bungalow. At that time, my neighbors were Han, Hui, etc. All the time, the neighbors of all ethnic groups lived in peace and harmony. When a family was needy, other families came to help. On festivals of different ethnic groups, such as Spring Festival, Corban Festival, Mid Autumn Festival and so on, all the neighbors ate, enjoyed and congratulated together. There was no ethnic difference or estrangement. This is the most common scene in all parts of Xinjiang. All ethnic groups live together like one family and depend on each other. There is no problem concerning ethnic persecution or oppression. Especially in recent years, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region has vigorously launched the program of “ethnic unity”, carried out the activities intended to promote friendship among ethnic groups, and implemented the program of “Investigating, benefiting, and solidarizing” in villages. The 19 provinces and cities in the mainland have assisted Xinjiang, so that the people of all ethnic groups in Xinjiang can truly feel the warmth of the country, the solidarity and mutual assistance of the Chinese nation, and the prosperity and development of our country. The ethnic policies of the party and the state have been wholeheartedly supported by the masses of all ethnic groups in Xinjiang. Seeing such a good picture of unity and progress, Pompeo is very jealous and attempts to stir up dissension in Xinjiang with some despicable tricks to achieve the goal of “controlling China with Xinjiang”. This sinister intention will not succeed, and the people of Xinjiang will never allow it to happen!

Those who have personal experience have the most say. As a Uyghur official who was born, lived and worked in Xinjiang for more than 50 years, like other Uygur people, from infantry to adulthood, I have received equal social security in schooling, work, medical care, freedom and other aspects. With the prosperity and development of our country, all kinds of welfare are getting better and better. At present, people of all ethnic groups in Xinjiang enjoy a free physical examination every year, and children in the four prefectures of Southern Xinjiang enjoy free education from nursery to senior high school. All these are the dividends of Xinjiang’s social stability and economic development. In the past four years, there have been no violent and terrorist cases in Xinjiang, and the fight against poverty has won a decisive victory. People of all ethnic groups, including the Uygur, are using their own hands to get rid of poverty, which is the greatest livelihood. In the fight against COVID-19 this year, the party and government always insist on the supremacy of the people and the supremacy of life. Regardless of ethnic background, religious beliefs, social status, all the infected people should get medical treatment at any cost. Thus the health and security of all ethnic groups, including Uygurs is protected maximally. On the contrary, Pompeo is indifferent to the epidemic situation in the United States. At present, the death toll of COVID-19 infection in the United States is over 400,000. The rich people are treated first, and the death rate of colored races is extremely high, which is a tragedy in modern society.

As an Uygur party member and government official in Xinjiang, I will work hard and strive to maintain the hard-won ethnic unity, social stability and happy life. I firmly believe that as long as all ethnic groups hold together like pomegranate seeds, work together and work hard, the goal of social stability and long-term peace will be achieved. We will use facts to refute unwarranted slander!
