Recently, the former US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo published a Xinjiang statement, alleging that China commits “crimes against humanity” and “genocide” against Uygur Muslims and other ethnic minorities in Xinjiang. Ignoring the fact, confusing right and wrong, and manipulating double standard, the statement that is heinous intended and carries hidden political schemes denigrates the condition of human rights in Xinjiang and smears the region’s good situation and the happy life of people of all ethnic groups, only to sabotage Xinjiang’s stability and obstruct its development. As an official born and brought up in Xinjiang who has participated in, witnessed and benefited from the development and stability-building in the region, I strongly condemn and reject Pompeo’s behaviors and words which amount to interference in China’s internal affairs and severe violation of international law and basic norms governing international relations.

Totally a fabricated tale, Pompeo’s so-called “genocide ” claim is just another heinous lie and farce woven by Pompeo to smear Xinjiang. In 2017, Xinjiang revised its population and family planning regulations, which stipulate all ethnic groups apply the same policy: urban couples can have two children, rural couples can have three. According to statistics, from 2010 to 2018, Uyghur population growth is not only higher than that of the region’s overall population, but also higher than that of the ethnic minorities, and far higher than that of the Han Chinese’s. Is that the so-called “genocide” Pompeo referred to?

Thanks to the concerted efforts of people of all ethnicities, tremendous achievements have been made in all of the region’s social and economic undertakings over the 70 years since the People’s Republic of China was founded, particularly since the 18th CPC National Congress. Xinjiang is now stable and its development is gathering momentum; People are living in peace and contentment; A decisive victory is achieved in poverty alleviation: all impoverished people have been lifted out of poverty, all impoverished villages and counties have shaken off poverty. Particularly in the Covid-19 fight last year, under the strong leadership of the CPC Central Committee, Xinjiang, putting people first and emphasized life was of utmost importance, protected the lives and health of people of all ethnic groups to the maximum extent by taking decisive, scientific and resolute measures, and people’s sense of happiness, gain and security rose greatly. Ignoring the region’s great changes and improvement in the livelihoods of people of all ethnicities is Pompeo’s habitual trick of selective blindness. Lies are lies before the fact, while justice is in people’s hearts. People of all ethnicities in Xinjiang are best positioned to say when it comes to Xinjiang. The sustained development and progress in Xinjiang, though obvious to all, is the least facts Pompeo wants to see. That Pompeo engages in cooking up Xinjiang lies, sows discord in our ethnic relationship, and obstructs the region’s hard-won stability amounts to defiance and challenge to justice and basic conscience, and exposes his wicked nature notorious for lying and cheating. Pompeo’s malicious slanders and provocation are plain to everyone. For a clown like him, such tricks are only to invite humiliation for himself. We urge Pompeo to take off his tainted glasses, stop making up lies and interfering China’s internal affairs by using Xinjiang related issues.

Xinjiang belongs to China and the resolve of people of all ethnic groups in Xinjiang to defend the national sovereignty, security and development interests, and oppose no interference of any foreign forces in Xinjiang’s own affairs remains invincible.Any attempt to meddle in Xinjiang’s affairs, interfere in China’s internal, and challenge Chinese people is doomed to fail.
