Recently, Pompeo, “the worst Secretary of State in history” named by the Washington Post, played “Pinocchio” once again for his own political expediency. He viciously fabricated information on Xinjiang-related issues and performed a “doomsday madness” before stepping down. His words and behaviors were hysterical and without bottom line, which constantly broke our cognition towards the world’s civilization. Pompeo’s irresponsible statements, deliberate denigration and malicious attacks have seriously interfered in China's internal affairs and gravely violated the international law and the basic norms of international relations. As a leading cadre, I express my strong indignation and firm opposition.

As a participant and witness of Xinjiang’s development, its achievements over the years have been obvious to all. The great achievements made by the Party’s strategy for governing Xinjiang in the new era are indisputable. The people of all ethnic groups in Xinjiang are living in peace and contentment, unity and harmony. Over the years, thanks to the concerted efforts of the people of all ethnic groups in Xinjiang, the region has maintained social stability and sound development, and its people have been living and working in peace and contentment. From 2014 to 2019, Xinjiang’s GDP increased from 919.59 billion yuan to 1359.71 billion yuan, with per capita disposable income growing at an average annual rate of 9.1%. All the people living in poverty have been lifted out of poverty, 3666 poor villages and 32 poor counties have all been removed from the poverty list. Xinjiang’s fight against poverty achieved a decisive victory. In 2019, Xinjiang received more than 200 million visitors from home and abroad. While enjoying the beautiful scenery of Xinjiang, they also witnessed the unity, harmony, joy and peace of all ethnic groups in Xinjiang. The Uygur population grew by 25.04% from 2010 to 2018, higher than the 13.99% growth rate of Xinjiang’s population, and much higher than the 2% growth rate of the Han population. The spoken and written languages, customs and traditional cultures of ethnic groups have been well protected and inherited, and the people fully enjoy the rights to subsistence and development. The UN Action Plan on the Prevention of Violent Extremism has been well implemented in Xinjiang, and measures to prevent terrorism and deradicalization have been carried out in accordance with the law. The security and stability of Xinjiang have been effectively protected, and the lives and safety of people of all ethnic groups in Xinjiang have been effectively guaranteed. Through training, job creation and other measures, the people of Xinjiang have lifted themselves out of poverty and work hard to make their lives richer and happier. Their sense of fulfillment and happiness is constantly growing. The people of all ethnic groups embrace each other like the seeds of a pomegranate, and work hand in hand on the new journey toward the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.

Facts speak louder than words, and justice naturally inhabits in man’s heart. The current prosperity and development of Xinjiang’s economic, the harmony and stability of Xinjiang’s society cannot be wiped out by a few lies and fallacies made by Pompeo. History will prove that Pompeo’s outrageous remarks are doomed to be spurned by the world, and his despicable actions will be judged by history and justice.
