On January 19, the last day of Trump’s presidency, Pompeo staged the “doomsday madness”, accusing China of “genocide” and “crimes against humanity” in Xinjiang, and maliciously attacked and smeared the Chinese government’s policies on Xinjiang. As a Uygur intellectual, I express my strong indignation over this.
I was born and raised in Xinjiang, so I have the best say in what is happening here.
I was born in a family of intellectuals. My parents, brothers and sisters, as well as the people of all ethnic groups living with us on the vast land of Xinjiang, are the lucky ones of this era and fully enjoy the good policies of the CPC. In 1989, I was admitted to Shanghai Jiao Tong University. During my study in Shanghai, the university set up a special halal canteen to respect and take care of the dietary habits of ethnic minorities. Such halal canteens are not only available at Shanghai Jiao Tong University, but also at other universities across the country. After graduation in 1995, I worked in the Institute of Economics, Xinjiang Academy of Social Sciences. I have achieved certain scientific research results and my life is getting better every day. I have also witnessed the implementation of various assistance policies and measures taken by the party and the government to relieve the poverty in Xinjiang, and witnessed the implementation of the 15-year compulsory education, universal medical insurance and safe housing policies in the four prefectures of southern Xinjiang. People of all ethnic groups have changed from not having enough food and clothing to the modernization of family life. Cars that could not be imagined in the past has gradually become a means of transportation for many families. The people of all ethnic groups enjoy a growing sense of fulfillment, happiness and security.
What I have said is only a small part of the numerous facts that happen in Xinjiang. I firmly believe that the lies issued by Pompeo will be scotched in front of the facts and data. These lies will be swept into the dustbin of history and such anti-China lies will surely nail them to the pillar of shame in history.
