Recently, former US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo once again issued a statement concerning Xinjiang. Falsely claimed that Xinjiang’s policies toward Muslims and ethnic groups have committed the crimes of “anti-humanity”, “genocide”, etc. He deliberately slandered the human rights situation, freedom of religious belief in Xinjiang, disgraced China’s efforts to de-radicalize and combat terrorism wantonly, maliciously attacked the Party’s policy of governing Xinjiang, which seriously violated the international law and basic norms of international relations and violently interfered in China’s internal affairs. Every Chinese, including our Uyghurs, will never agree.

I’m a leading cadre who was born and grew up in Xinjiang. I have been a participant, witness and beneficiary of Xinjiang’s stable development. Behind the excellent situation of social stability, economic development, ethnic unity, religious harmony, improvement of people’s livelihood and living and working in peace and contentment in Xinjiang, it is the work of countless sons and daughters of all ethnic groups in China who have fought in unison and unity, and is the cohesion of the endless efforts of the Party and the country. However, in the face of the dramatic changes in Xinjiang every day, the people of all ethnic groups are thriving. There are always people who turn a blind eye, turn a deaf ear! Concocted one political lie after another in a vain attempt to provoke ethnic relations in Xinjiang and undermine the stability and development of Xinjiang. What a vicious intention!

Pompeo’s false claims of “genocide” and “forced sterilization” are pure nonsense. The fact is that the Chinese government has been consistent in protecting the legitimate rights and interests of people of all ethnic groups, including ethnic minorities. Population policy has long given preferential treatment to ethnic minorities, including Uyghurs. According to statistics, from 2010 to 2018 only, Xinjiang’s residence population rose from 21.8158 million to 24.8676 million, increase 3.0518 million, up 13.99%. The minority population rose from 12.9859 million to15.8608 million, with an increase of 2.8749 million, up 22.14%. While the Uygur population rose even more from 1.715 million to12.7184 million, increased of 2.5469 million, up 25.04%. The growth rate of Uygur population is not only higher than that of Xinjiang, but also higher than the increase of the population of ethnic groups’ population, and more significantly higher than the growth of the Han people. Is this what Pompeo calls “genocide”?

Pompeo’s false accusations of “suppressing religious freedom” and “forcibly demolishing mosques” are purely rumors! The fact is that in Xinjiang, whether to believe in religion or not is entirely up to the citizens to choose. Citizens are in religious venues and in accordance with religious habits, all normal religious activities carried out at home are taken care of by religious groups and citizens, protected by law, and no organization or individual can interfere. Up to now, Xinjiang Islamic school of Islamic studies has trained more than 4000 graduates. According to the appeals and applications of local Muslims, the government has been building, relocating, and expanding new mosques, not only guaranteeing the number of monasteries, but also buildings are safer, more rational layout that religious believers are all satisfied. In recent years, with the strong support of the government, Islamic School of Xinjiang has been setting up branches all over China. Is this what Pompeo is alleging of “the demolition of mosques” a “crackdown on religious freedom”?

Pompeo’s false claims of “setting up concentration camps” and “crimes against humanity” are unfounded attacks! The fact is that Xinjiang has set up vocational skills education and training centers according to law, similar to de-radicalization centers in France and other countries. These are useful attempts and active explorations in preventive counter-terrorism and de-radicalization. The vocational education and training centers have fully guaranteed the personal freedom of the trainees. Implement boarding system management, serving halal meals, students can go home, can ask for leave if they have some other things, and may use the spoken and written languages of their own minorities. Folk customs and freedom of religious belief of students of different ethnic groups are fully respected and protected. People who have influenced by extremist ideology as well as committed minor crimes, through learning the national common language and writing, legal knowledge, education and training vocational skills, extremist thought, master life skills, return to normal social life and have achieved the effect which the society acknowledged and vigorously maintained social stability in Xinjiang. It has also effectively safeguarded the environment for the healthy development of religion. Is that what Pompeo did falsified “setting up of concentration camps” and crimes “against humanity”?

Chinese government has implemented a series of policies and measures to govern Xinjiang. Let Xinjiang really get rid of poverty and move towards prosperity. Keep away from backwardness and March towards progress. The rights of the people of all ethnic groups have been effectively guaranteed. Xinjiang is no longer the one with frequent violence and terrorism, a place where people’s lives and property are in constant danger. We look back on the profound lessons and tragic pain brought about by “the 7.5” and other violent terrorist cases. We shall cherish the happiness and beauty of Xinjiang at present. For four years, no violent terrorist incident happened. This achievement alone has won the heartfelt praise of the people of all ethnic groups, including the Uygur. While the life of the people of all ethnic groups in Xinjiang is becoming more and more prosperous. Pompeo, however, keeps churning out one lie after another involving Xinjiang, wantonly, criticizes the policy of administering Xinjiang by the Chinese government for many years. It’s disgusting and outrageous. In other words, Pompeo thinks there are “human rights” when people of all ethnic groups in Xinjiang are not living well? Dose Pompeo believe that there are “no human rights” when the people of all ethnic groups in Xinjiang live well?

Clouds will not stop the sun, lies will eventually be exposed. The tide of history rolls forward, any conspiracy to undermine the unity of all ethnic groups in China and curb China’s development will eventually become a laughingstock. The sons and daughters of all ethnic groups in Xinjiang will be united, like pomegranate seeds tightly together, hand in hand, side by side, jointly protect our beautiful home!
