My name is Shokrat Kalim and I am from Yiwu County, Hami Prefecture. I want to refute Pompeo’s shameless smearing on Xinjiang with my own experience.

I was born into a normal farmer’s family. When I was a child, my family was quite poor and my parents even could not afford to buy textbooks for me. The school at that time was also ill-equipped. There was no heating in the classroom and we had to rely on a fireplace to get warm. Even the fireplace was lit, it was still cold. At that time, my family lived in an adobe house about 60 square meters and just behind our house was the stables for household animals. In summer, the flies and mosquitoes ran everywhere and there was stink smell, so we would not dare to open the window in the house. Another terrible thing at that time was the road in the village -- in sunny day it was all dirt and in rainy day it was all mud. No matter how many new clothes you had, once you wore them and walked for some time, new clothes were sure to be smeared by dirt or mud.

However, after years of development, my daughter is in grade one in an urban primary school and her school is so wonderful. Of course it is compulsory education and the tuition fee is free and the textbooks are free. In the second interval in the morning, she can even get a free snack of milk and bread. After school, the school bus will take her to my house freely. My parents are now in their 60s, and they enjoy all sorts of benefiting subsidies as bus travel, grassland management, pension and medical care. Now we live in a spacious and bright house, and the asphalt road is just in front of our house, which is no difference to a big city at all.

I used to work in a small technique company and because of my professional skill, excellent expertise and outstanding serving attitude I was liked by everyone. In 2019, I have been offered a better salary in Baichen Computer Technology Corporation, and after all necessary fees such as pension being deducted, I can earn over 3500 RMB yuan as salary each month. At the end of a year, I can also get a big bonus. My major work is in charge of electric equipment maintenance, serving all the civil serving departments and bureaus in Yiwu County and our work is highly praised by them. In spare time I also take part-time job as fixing cellphone. With that I can earn about 7000-8000 RMB yuan for each month in total. I have two apartments now. Today the policies are better and better and our living standard is getting better and better, which makes me and my family happier.

However, about these changes and development, Pompeo chose to ignore and he even made up lies to deceive the world. We Xinjiang people are making our own happy life here and it is not Pompeo’s right to point his fingers at us. His actions and words were disgusting. Mr. Pompeo, be careful! When you sow the wind, you will reap the whirlwind!
