Mayira Mamtimin, Cadre of Xinjiang Daily
Disregarding the facts, Pompeo deliberately slandered human rights situation in Xinjiang, vilified China’s efforts in deradicalization and counter terrorism, maliciously attacking China’s Xinjiang policy. As a native Xinjiang resident, a minority journalist, I can refute Pompeo’s shameless lies with my own experience and tell the world what a real Xinjiang is like.
My hometown Xinjiang is a beautiful and rich place. The beauty of Xinjiang lies not only in its unique scenery, but also in the unity and harmony of the people living here. I was born in a Uygur intellectual family in Urumqi. My parents are college teachers. As a child, I grew up in an environment where Han, Uygur, Hui, Kazakh, Mongolian, Tatar, Xibe, Uzbek and other ethnic groups lived together. We all lived, studied and grew up together. We have built a deep friendship between neighbors and friends. During the university period, the state's student aid policy helped the students with financial difficulties in our class to complete their studies smoothly. Teachers of all ethnic groups at university gave us meticulous care and help, and students of all ethnic groups got along well with each other like one family. When they first entered the university, some students encountered some difficulties in their studies. Many Han teachers extended a helping hand to them and took time to tutor them every day. There were many such examples. The experience at university made me deeply feel the warmth of the big family of motherland.
After graduating from the university, I got a job in Xinjiang Daily. When I just entered the new working environment, many of my predecessors, including many colleagues from other ethnic groups, gave me careful guidance. They imparted their work experience to me selflessly, patiently helped me improve my professional ability, and helped me grow into a qualified journalist. From September 2017 to June 2018, I participated in the special training program for Xinjiang minority science and technology backbones and studied in the College of Journalism and Communication, Central Minzu University for one year. I was very excited to have this opportunity to learn from famous teachers. All this benefits from the attention paid by the state to the growth of Xinjiang ethnic minority cadres. The state invests a lot of money every year to cultivate ethnic minority professional and technical talents that the majority of ethnic minority cadres, including myself, have made progress.
In Xinjiang, I grew up feeling a fair and relaxed social atmosphere, knowing that regardless of ethnic background, everyone enjoys equal rights and opportunities, and everyone can rely on hard work to create a better life. I study and work hard; my efforts have been rewarded, my achievements have been recognized by the unit; my career has won the respect of people. I live a better life through my own efforts. The people of all ethnic groups living in Xinjiang are the same as me. As long as they are willing to work hard, everyone has the chance to be brilliant in life.
Now, my life is peaceful and happy. My experience of growing up is enough to show that the Chinese government's policy of governing Xinjiang is completely correct and effective, and has benefited the minority people a lot. Today, people of all ethnic groups in the north and south of Tianshan Mountains can enjoy good education, employment, medical care, pension and other benefits. Xinjiang is in the best period of prosperity and development in history. Pompeo's demented slander and smear cannot change the pace of Xinjiang. Any attempt to destroy Xinjiang's harmony and stability and contain China's development is doomed to fail!
