Pompeo’s Doomsday lies will be Brought to Historical Trial and Receive Just Punishment

Elike Maimaiti, professor and doctor, College of Forestry and Horticulture, Xinjiang Agricultural University

Recently, Pompeo, the former US Secretary of State, staged a “doomsday madness” at the last moment of his term of office. He once again spread lies and pernicious words, labeling the policies related to Xinjiang as “genocide” and “anti-humanity”, and wantonly discredited the good situation in Xinjiang and the happy life of the people of all ethnic groups, in an attempt to undermine the stability of Xinjiang and obstruct the development of Xinjiang. The intention is very sinister with hidden political purposes. As a university teacher who was born and grew up in Xinjiang, and as a witness, participant, witness and beneficiary of Xinjiang’s reform and opening up, stable development and earth shaking changes, I express my vehement condemnation, firm rejection and severe denouncement to Pompeo.

I want to talk to Pompeo. I am a Uygur youth who grew up under the care and cultivation of the Communist Party of China. I am a Uygur doctor and returned to my hometown after I finished my study abroad. I grew up in the warm sunshine of the motherland. I was born in a small village at the foot of Kunlun Mountain. My parents worked hard and devoted their whole life to national compulsory education. My father is the first generation of intellectuals of ethnic minorities who promoted themselves from the farmers’ family after the founding of new China. What he said most to me is that the happy life of our family and the prosperity of Xinjiang are inseparable from the correct leadership of the Communist Party of China and the party’s ethnic policy. The CPC has given us and you the opportunity to learn and everything we have now. I grew up in such a happy family. From 1999 to 2008, I studied as an undergraduate and a postgraduate student in Xinjiang Agricultural University. From 2008 to 2014, I studied for a doctoral degree in Tottori University of Japan and worked as a project researcher for two years. Under the party’s care and good policies, I completed my study from primary school to university, and I was sent to Japan for further study. I achieved certain academic achievements and returned to China to serve. During the six years of studying abroad, I deeply realized that the prosperity and strength of my motherland is my biggest supporter, and I also understood more deeply than ever the sincere emotion of “no country, no home”. With a powerful motherland, we can stand high and proud when we are abroad.

In Xinjiang, grassroots organizations have been improved and the living standards of the people have been further improved. When I was in a foreign country, I obviously felt that Xinjiang’s international reputation had greatly improved. My family, relatives and friends all told me the changes of my hometown in time, which made me feel very happy. I was full of hope for the future of Xinjiang. Therefore, I decided to give up the superior living environment and job opportunities abroad, return to my motherland and Xinjiang, and put myself into the unprecedented development and construction of Xinjiang. It is our country that has cultivated me and provided me with the opportunity of further study. I have every reason to use what I have learned to make a modest contribution to the economic development and social stability of Xinjiang and my hometown.

In September 2015, I stayed in the university to teach, and was lucky to be included in the high-level talent introduction plan of Xinjiang, and obtained scientific research funding and living subsidies. I volunteered to work in a village in Awat County with my personal wishes and encouragement from my family. During my stay in the village, I made great efforts to use what I had learned to lead farmers to increase production and income. As a participant and witness, I witnessed the great changes in the socioeconomic development in southern Xinjiang and the life of my Uygur compatriots. I remember when I was in primary and middle school, the school was a adobe house, the country road was dusty, and every family lived a tight life. Under the leadership of the Party and with the implementation of the government’s policies to benefit the people, today’s Xinjiang is full of high-rising buildings, smooth and wide asphalt roads. People’s pockets are bulging with money. They don’t have to worry about food and clothing, compulsory education, basic medical care and housing safety are guaranteed, and many people buy cars, making life more prosperous. The faces of people of all ethnic groups are brimming with happy smiles and every place takes on a flourishing look.

I am a witness of the great new era, a witness of the historical changes in Xinjiang, and a beneficiary of the national policy for cultivating talents of ethnic minorities. As a Uygur intellectual growing up under the cultivation of the party and the government, I have witnessed the historic changes in Xinjiang since the reform and opening up, I have witnessed the great course of the great motherland from standing up, getting rich to becoming strong, I have experienced the great achievements in the development of various social undertakings, and I have witnessed the beautiful today when all ethnic groups in Xinjiang unite and work together . My personal experience is just one of the thousands of Xinjiang stories. This is Xinjiang! Pompeo, please stop your malicious and absurd farce!
