Gurishati Tursun,Professor of Law Department in Xinjiang Police College
On the verge of stepping down, with his sinister scheme of sabotaging China, Pompeo once again launched a series of fallacies concerning Xinjiang, unprovokedly attacking and deliberately discrediting the Chinese government and wantonly meddling in China’s internal affairs on January 19, 2021, which have severely trampled on international law and basic norms governing international relations and violated international justices and value criteria as well as basic human conscience and morality. As an expert and professor, I express my strong indignation and firm opposition to that!
As a native of Uygur in Xinjiang. I was born and bred in Hotan Silk Factory, Xinjiang, a place full of solidarity and harmony, where all ethnic groups help and support each other through contact, communication and cooperation. My father is one of the first generation of senior translators in Xinjiang, and my mother is one of the first generation of Uygur workers in Hotan Silk Factory. In the 1950s, my mother was sent by the government to study in Suzhou Silk Factory. It was the master of Han nationality who taught her silk-weaving skills in person. My mother also learned to make cloth shoes and knit sweaters with the help of her Han colleagues. Our four brothers and sisters grew up in such an environment of mutual help, trust and love among all ethnic groups. Four of us studied in kindergarten, primary school and junior high school together with the children of Han families who came from the mainland to help and support Xinjiang. In senior high school, we ate, lived and studied together with students from all ethnic groups. We respected and helped each other, made progress together, and established a profound national friendship.
I am 60 years old this year. As a child born in an ordinary minority family, I have always been a lucky one under the care of the CPC and the government. I successfully entered the university. Besides, I have also enjoyed the national free education in the university, and completed my university studies. After graduation in 1983, I became a college teacher, and gradually grew into a law assistant, lecturer and associate professor. At the same time, I also served as a member of the Academic Committee, Academic Degree Committee and Appeal Committee of the college, a member of Rule of Law Publicity Group and a political instructor of Public Security Department of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. With the help and support of Xinjiang minority cadres training policy, I have been assigned to graduate school of Chinese Academy of Sciences and universities in Beijing and Xi’an for further study. As a representative of Uygur female intellectuals, I have gone to universities in various provinces and cities in the Mainland for many times to attend national academic seminars. My personal growth experience is a convincing proof and vivid example of the continuous improvement of women’s rights and interests achieved by thousands of Uygur women with the support of the policies of the Party and the state.
Facts speak louder than words. There is never ever such thing as genocide in Xinjiang. I have experienced, strived for and witnessed Xinjiang’s development and progress over the past six decades. From Hotan to Urumqi, from Xinjiang to the mainland, my study, life and work experiences are all credited to the Chinese Communist Party and the Chinese government, and all of them have grown and progressed with the care and concern of the Party and the government. Uygur is one of the 56 ethnic groups in the big family of our motherland. Like other ethnic minorities, Uygur fully enjoys the equal rights granted by the national constitution. It is precisely because of the Communist Party of China that Xinjiang has achieved unprecedented achievements in social stability, economic prosperity, improvement of people’s livelihood and protection of human rights, and entered the booming development period in history. And all of these achievements can never be discredited by any buffoon like Pompeo!
