Pompeo, I want to Talk to You

Muhebuli Abulizi, deputy dean and professor, School of pharmacy, Xinjiang Medical University

Mr. Pompeo, I want to talk to you! I’d like to introduce myself first. My name is Muhebuli Abulizi, a Uygur professor in an university. I’m a native in Xinjiang, 57 years old. I studied for a master’s degree and a doctoral degree in Europe. At present, I am the executive director of Xinjiang European and American Student Association. I have a lot of contacts with returned students from other countries, and I have a good understanding of the culture of European and American countries. At the same time, I am also an expert in the field of medicine. I respect science very much, and especially have an honest character. I don't lie, and this may be very different from you.

Recently, I heard that you were particularly interested in us Uygurs, so I’m also curious about you. Let’s have a chat. I’ll communicate with you in an European way.

Judging from what you said and did, I can securely conclude that you know very little about our Xinjiang. Let me give you a brief introduction to Xinjiang. Xinjiang is a beautiful place with many ethnic groups who are united and have developed a harmonious relationship with each other. Under the care of the party and the government, we Uygur people have a high sense of happiness and are very satisfied with the party and the government. Like many other Uygurs, under the care and cultivation of the party and government, I have developed well in all aspects of my career and life and my family is enjoying a happy life.

We Uygurs mainly live in Xinjiang, part of our motherland. Together with Han and other ethnic minorities, we hold together like pomegranate seeds. We help each other, respect each other and learn from each other. In the long historical process, we have established a pluralistic and unified Chinese culture, appreciating each other. We are particularly satisfied with this! There is no cultural discrimination and oppression here!

You think the Uygur people in Xinjiang have been suffering from genocide. I was really shocked to hear it! What’s the meaning of this? At present, Uygur families in cities generally have two children, and rural families have three children. Is this the genocide against the Uygurs? Look, I live in the city, and I have two children. I hope you respect the facts and don’t talk nonsense!

You seem to have said that there is a kind of vocational education and training center in Xinjiang, which you are dissatisfied with. Well, let me also introduce it to you. The vocational education and training center is a kind of education and training school. Trainees there have been infected with some extremist religious ideas. Religious extremism is prohibited by the laws of all countries in the world and should be dealt with seriously. However, our country is still very tolerant of these people, teaching them law, national language and science and technology, so that they can get education and training, eliminate religious extremist ideas, learn legal knowledge, improve professional knowledge, technical skills and employment potential. In this way, it will be easier for them to integrate into the modern civilized society and find suitable jobs. There is no such thing as “oppression” or human rights disaster! As a representative of university teachers, I visited 5 or 6 vocational education and training centers, talked with 6 students from different education and training centers, randomly selecting students and having on-the-spot dialogues with them. They all said, “as a farmer’s child, I have never dreamed that I could enjoy such good learning and employment training opportunities here. Disturbed by extremist religious thoughts, we have a vague understanding, weak legal awareness, and live in confusion. Now, compared with the past, we have become a completely different kind of people. Our learning content is rich and interesting, and we feel that we are making progress day by day. In the process of ‘from confusion to reflection, gratitude, and longing’, we have a special sense of gain! Thank the party and the government for not abandoning us, for saving us from the dangerous extremism and providing us with the opportunity to be a new man!”

Pompeo, do you understand this? This is what I have seen and heard with my own eyes and ears! You and I were both born in December 1963, and both of us have got doctorates in western universities. We should tell each other the truth! This is what I saw with my own eyes through random interviews and random exchanges. Please don’t slander Xinjiang at will!

These are the facts I have described to you. I hope you will stop your nonsense after you know the truth! If your thinking, words and deeds continue to be divorced from reality, your mental thinking is still split with the reality, which is called "schizophrenia" in medicine! you need medicine treatment! If you insist, I suggest you should not forget to take medicine on time!
