Lies Are Always False, and Truth Can’t Be Trampled

Maierdan Waili, a teacher of Xinjiang University

Recently, Pompeo, “the worst Secretary of State in the history of the United States” who has been acting as the anti-China vanguard, disregarding the facts, distorted history and concocted fallacies out of nothing, in attempt to bewitch people with poor acting skills. But lies are lies after all. Pompeo’s absurd performance of deceiving others and deceiving himself can only end in farce in the face of solid facts. What are the facts about Xinjiang? I think my own growth experience and what I have seen and heard are the best facts.

I was born and raised in Xinjiang, and has been working and living in Xinjiang. I grew up, drinking the water of Tarim River and feeding on the naan of Xinjiang. I have deep feelings for the land where I was raised. No matter where I go, I always think that “Our Xinjiang is a wonderful place”. As a university teacher, what impresses me deeply is that all the facility staff and teachers in Xinjiang have entered the class, acting as the head teacher, deputy head teacher and academic tutor, making friends with young students of all ethnic groups, and serving as the “guide” of students’ ideal and belief education, and the “counselor” of professional study and the “intimate friend” of life. I have made paired friends with 10 students. In my spare time, I often visit their dormitories and classes to participate in League Day activities and theme class meetings. During the period of campus epidemic prevention and control, in order to guide students to form healthy living habits, I often do jogging and play ball games with them on the playground, communicating with them and helping them plan their university life, and often make contact with their parents to strengthen communication between our university and students’ parents. In this real process of pairing communication, it not only shortens the distance between me and the students, enhances our emotion with each other, but also enables me to understand what the students think about, what they need and expect.

In recent years, the Party committee of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region has always adhered to the idea of people-centered development, especially the project of benefiting the people implemented by Xinjiang, which makes the masses of all ethnic groups feel the care of the party and the warmth of the motherland. In Yecheng County of Kashgar Prefecture, I participated in poverty alleviation, publicizing the party’s various policies of benefiting the people to the masses in the grassroots, and personally participating in the implementation of various policies of benefiting the people as the implementer. During my stay in the village, I always kept in mind my mission and responsibilities, and always treated and cared about the masses sincerely and earnestly, trying every means to do more practical things that will benefit the people’s livelihood and solve as many problems as possible that the masses of all ethnic groups were worried about. During this period, I witnessed with my own eyes that three-year pre-school education and twelve year basic education in southern Xinjiang were all free, and this policy completely eliminated the phenomenon of school dropout. Every family enjoyed the government subsidies and lived in a well-off house. Asphalt roads were built in the village connecting every household, and energy-saving street lamps facilitated the night travel of villagers. Natural gas and tap water were available in the kitchen and toilet of every household and television and Internet entered all the households. All the people enjoyed the free health examination, and in my village the basic medical insurance coverage rate reached 100%.

As a village working team dispatched by our university, we also gave full play to our own advantages in academic disciplines and majors, insisting on “writing papers on the land”, and set up summer and winter tutorial classes to make up lessons for students of all grades in the village free of charge. After the end of the college entrance examination every year, we helped students how to choose a proper college or secondary school, which greatly improved the admission rate of the students in our village. In order to improve the employment skills of villagers, we tried to explore employment channels and opportunities, opening a free national language training class for villagers to promote their vocational ability. In order to develop the courtyard economy, according to the “one family, one policy”, we seriously worked on the plan, transforming the courtyard without any economic benefits into a small farmyard with perfect functions, reasonable layout and economic value. In order to promote the quality and efficiency of forestry and fruit economy, we guided the masses to adjust the row spacing of trees, and made full use of the farmland in the garden. We helped the villagers inter-plant the crops with development potential and good market efficiency. We managed to build a business and wealth street in the village, and provided shops for the self-employed villagers, so that the villagers can realize the desire of shopping nearby without going very far. Nowadays, with the life being better and better, the villagers are more confident with their future life and more ambitious in their pursuit.

In today’s Xinjiang, all the places around the Tianshan Mountains present a good picture of social stability, peace and vigorous development. Pompeo can not stop the pace of unity and progress of the people of all ethnic groups in Xinjiang. I believe that under the strong leadership of the Communist Party of China, the people of all ethnic groups in Xinjiang will use irrefutable facts to smash Pompeo’s fallacy about Xinjiang. I believe that the future of Xinjiang will be more beautiful!
