Yusuf Halik, Deputy Director of the Public Security Bureau of Bayingolin Mongol Autonomous Prefecture of Xinjiang
Recently, Pompeo and Adrian Zenz frantically delivered Xinjiang-related fallacies, declaring “Xinjiang has committed crimes against humanity and genocide for its policies on Muslims and ethnic minorities”. They impressed the world what is doomsday craziness of "carrying the lies to the end". Ignoring the history and the facts, they rascally repeated their clumsy performance, groundlessly attacked and deliberately discredited Xinjiang’s policies. I express my firm opposition to it!
My name is Yusuf Halik, 52 years old, and I am now working as the deputy director of the Public Security Bureau of Bayingolin Mongol Autonomous Prefecture. I was born in an average farmer’s family in Xinjiang’s Korla. The living conditions were not very good when I was young, for there were too many children in my family. My parents both passed away before we grew up, leaving us in a situation of lacking food and clothes. It was the Party and the government that extended their warm hands, addressing our difficulties in sending us back to school. The whole family was so excited that we all burst into tears. In 1984, I was admitted to a college, and became a policeman after graduation, thus realizing my childhood dream. The housing conditions have improved greatly, and we are provided access to heating facilities. In addition, we have bought cars. I’m living a happy life with my beloved wife and lovely son and daughter. Each time when we hold a family gathering, my younger brother Silali and younger sister Patgul would say sincerely. "Thanks to the Party, we could have today’s happy life. The Party is our second parents. We owe the Party a debt of gratitude which we shall repay with our practical actions."
I want to ask Pompeo and Adrian Zenz, is this kind of happy life called "genocide"? As a Uygur official of the Party, any progress I have made is attributable to the care and cultivation of the Party. I often tell my children, "When I was a young boy, Korla was crowded with one-story mud-brick houses. Sand storms were frequent. The drinking water came from the ditches. The travelling means were no other than carts of horses or cattle. There was no TV or phone. But now Korla abounds with endless tall buildings. We have access to clean tap water and paved roads. The dusty days have gone. Almost every household owes cars and electric bicycles. Everyone has his or her smart phone, and they chat on Wechat, browse Tik Tok, and engage in casual conversations. All are radiant with joy. As for my longtime friends and classmates, some have started their own businesses, some work as engineers, and some work as civil servants. We are clearly aware of the changes in Xinjiang, and we know that they are attributable to the correct leadership of the Party, to the help of the Party committees and governments at all levels, and to the joint efforts of the people from all ethnic groups."
As a Chinese saying goes, “only you yourself can tell whether the shoes are fit or not”. Only the local people are in the best position to say whether they are living a happy life or not. We witness the construction of magnificent and harmonious Xinjiang, and experience and benefit from the prosperity and development of Korla. Pompeo and Adrian Zenz, how could you outsiders be so confident to point fingers at our life? And the lies and viruses you have spread will be remembered by the history forever as a shame of your countries and symbol of infamy!
