Recently, scrupulously disrespecting international laws and fundamental principles of international relations, Pompeo released his Xinjiang-related fallacies, alleging that Xinjiang committed “genocide” against Muslim Uyghurs and other ethnic minorities in Xinjiang. This is a gross interference in China’s internal affairs and a malicious insult to the people of all ethnic groups in Xinjiang. Pompeo’s clumsy performance like a clown fully exposed his hideous and sinister motives to smear China’s governance of Xinjiang. I hereby voice my strong indignation and opposition.

Born in Xinjiang, I have been living here for 46 years. What I have witnessed and experienced can amply testify that Pompeo’s alleged “genocide” is sheer nonsense. My wife and I have two lovely children. My son is a junior high school student and my daughter goes to an elementary school. We are living a very happy life. For a long time, China has adopted a rather preferential population policy towards ethnic minorities including Uyghur. In recent years, population in Xinjiang has been on a steady increase, among which the growth rate and fertility rate of Uyghur population have been higher than those of average in Xinjiang and much higher than those of Han population. Aren’t these statistics convincing? In terms of education, all ethnic minorities in China enjoy equal rights in receiving free compulsory education and are free to choose their universities and majors. After graduation, they can either further their studies or choose their jobs freely. All of these are owing to the preferential policies of the Communist Party and our motherland. My family and I take great pride and feel lucky in having been born and bred in Xinjiang.

As a leading cadre having worked and lived in Karamay for many years and participated in numerous work in improving people’s livelihood, I harbor a deep feeling for my city and my people. In Karamay, with legitimate rights of all people including Uyghur fully guaranteed, all people here enjoy stable incomes and welfare benefits. Besides, with our income on a steady increase, we are having a very happy life.

Pompeo’s venomous slanders could neither block the footstep of ethnic unity and struggling of all people in Xinjiang, nor could they obliterate the progress of human rights in Xinjiang.
