Pompeo, the former US Secretary of State, concocted the “lies of the century” as he left office, falsely accusing Xinjiang of committing “genocide” and “crimes against humanity” against the Uyghurs and other ethnic minorities. Pompeo’s remarks on Xinjiang are a reckless disregard for the facts and a deliberate attempt to smear the good situation in Xinjiang and the happy lives of its people of all ethnic groups. This is a gross interference in China’s internal affairs, a serious violation of the basic principles of international laws and international relations, and a serious injury to the feelings of people of all ethnic groups in Xinjiang. In this regard, like the more than 20 million people of all ethnic groups living in Xinjiang, I express strong indignation and resolute opposition.

As we all know, the “worst US Secretary of State in history” has made lying and cheating a common practice in the past few years, using unashamedly robber baron logic, spreading sensational and false information on Xinjiang-related issues, and eagerly concocting lies to win the attention of the American public in a vain attempt to prolong his political life to make money for his political capital. The so-called “Xinjiang-related studies” by the violent terrorist organization the Eastern Turkistan Islamic Movement and anti-China scholars, which he considers as treasure in his hands, are refuted by the facts that Xinjiang presents social stability, economic development and people of all ethnic groups are living and working in peace and enjoying a good and happy life. Those facts lay his lies bare and turn himself into a “doomsday clown” and a “joke of the century”.

As an ethnic minority cadre born in south Xinjiang, I have the best say on the life of ethnic minorities in Xinjiang. Having studied, lived and worked in south Xinjiang for more than 30 years, I have personally experienced and witnessed the radical changes that have taken place in Xinjiang under the leadership of the Central Committee of the Communist Party and with the joint efforts of the Party committees and governments at all levels and people of all ethnic groups. Especially since the third central symposium on work related to Xinjiang, the Party committee of the autonomous region has resolutely implemented all major policies and plans by the Central Committee of the Communist Party, adhered to the people-centered development philosophy, made great efforts to fight poverty, expanded employment by all means, continuously promoted a series of projects benefiting people, such as education, medical care, social security and housing, and constantly met the needs of the people of all ethnic groups for a better life. Xinjiang has made unprecedented achievements in economic and social development and in improving people’s livelihood. For example, when I was a child, many people could not afford to go to school. Now the policy of free compulsory education benefits thousands of families in Xinjiang, and education from kindergarten to high school is free in south Xinjiang. In the past, many people lived in adobe houses, which became dangerous after a long time. Now they all live in earthquake resistant houses. In the past, travel was done by horse-drawn carriage and on foot, but now villages are connected and private cars and public transportation vehicles can reach everywhere. There hasn’t been any violent or terrorist case over the past four years or so. All impoverished people living below the current poverty line are removed from poverty, all impoverished villages are withdrawn, and all impoverished counties are removed from the country’s poverty list. During the outbreak of the COVID-19 epidemic in 2020, our Party and government persisted in taking people as the center and the safety of life as the foundation, and took scientific measures to protect the lives of people of all ethnic groups. Such examples are countless, and people of all ethnic groups have significantly enhanced their sense of achievement, happiness, and sense of security.

Pompeo, shut up! Your lies cannot undermine the prosperity and stability of Xinjiang, your lies cannot contain China’s development, and your sinister conspiracy will never succeed!
