Firm Opposition to Pompeo’s Xinjiang-related Remarks

Dolet Metrozi, Director of Bureau of Ethnic and Religious Affairs of Hotan

Recently, Pompeo falsely claimed China's policies towards Muslims and ethnic minorities in western Xinjiang constituted “crimes against humanity” and “genocide”. This remark is utterly absurd. I express my strong indignation and firm opposition to this!

I was born in a rural family in Hotan area on the southern edge of the Taklimakan Desert. I deeply feel the rapid changes in my hometown with each passing day. The rural shabby houses are gone. Instead, they are replaced by modern quake-proof and comfortable houses with complete facility. Every village is covered with the asphalt roads. Every household has access to tap water and is installed with the network television. Especially as the historically poverty-stricken areas, absolute poverty here has already been eradicated, which is the dream that our ancestors have expected for generations but has been realized in our generation. I just want to ask Pompeo, is this what you call “crimes against humanity”?

The freedom of religious belief of the people in all ethnic groups in Xinjiang is well respected and protected, and the normal religious activities and religious needs of religious believers are guaranteed in accordance with the law. The venues for religious activities and conditions for religious activities have been greatly improved, and the normal religious needs of religious believers have been fully met, which greatly facilitate religious believers to carry out religious activities. These facts have once again proved the saying that “a thousand lies cannot cover a fact”, and once again proved that Pompeo's lies are not worth refuting. Pompeo's lies are merely a plot to seek the so-called “political heritage” by cooking up the China's Xinjiang issue, which is destined to become an international joke.
