Tursun Hassen, Deputy Director of Karamay Public Employment Service Center
Recently, Mike Pompeo and Adrian Zenz once again ignored the facts, deliberately fabricated false news, called white black and black white, and seriously interfered in China's internal affairs. They falsely claimed that there was so-called "forced labor" in Xinjiang. This is total nonsense! In this regard, I express my strong indignation and resolute opposition!
My job has enabled me to witness many migrant workers from severely impoverished areas of southern Xinjiang not only change their lives but also their fates through their work and entrepreneurship.
Due to the single form of local industry and insufficient employment, many migrant workers in severely impoverished areas of southern Xinjiang have been farmers or herdsmen for generations with a relatively low annual income. However, they yearn for a prosperous and abundant life and their simplest wish is to get rid of poverty as soon as possible and to improve their living standards. Happiness is achieved through hard work! After several years of hard work, some of the migrant workers from southern Xinjiang to Karamay start their own businesses successfully and open shops, some of them buy houses and cars in Karamay, and some even bring their parents and children from their hometown to live together with. Here, they find a sense of belonging and warmth at home with bright and spacious living conditions, stable work and income, free compulsory education and physical examinations. They live a happy life through their hard work.
Seeing them gradually transform from farmers into urban residents and industrial workers, I really feel that without the party and government's policy of benefiting the people to create and provide more employment opportunities for them, how can they have the happy life they are now living? However, Pompeo and Adrian Zenz disregarded the fact that people of all ethnic groups were able to get rid of poverty and become rich through voluntary employment. And they falsely called getting rid of poverty and improving the quality of life for “forced labor”. THIS IS TOTAL NONSENSE!
Facts speak louder than words. Today, Xinjiang enjoys sustained, steady economic and social development, continuous improvement in people's livelihood, and social harmony and stability. People of all ethnic groups in Xinjiang live and work in peace and contentment, leading a happy life. No slanders or rumors can undermine the great situation of stability and unity in Xinjiang! No one can stop the historic process of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation!
