Whether the Life Is Happy or Not, Ask Those Who Have Lived It

Muhtar Slam, Vice Chairman of the Science and Technology Association of Bayingolin Mongolian Autonomous Prefecture

Pompeo and Adrian Zenz have repeatedly concocted Xinjiang-related lies, attempting to instigate the harmonious ethnic relations, and destabilizing the overall social situation in Xinjiang. Their vicious intention is as plain as the noses on their faces. Such lies grossly interfere in China's internal affairs, flagrantly violated international law, and trampled the feelings of Xinjiang people. My family and I strongly oppose to and firmly condemn them.

As to the reality of Xinjiang, only those of us who live in this region are in the best position to tell. I am a Uygur official born and raised in Xinjiang and I have been bathed in the warm sunshine of the Communist Party of China since my childhood. Under the care and cultivation of the Party, I have grown up to be an official. The happy life I have experienced is a true portrayal of the life of all Xinjiang people. And my work today also attests Xinjiang people’s pursuit of a happy life.

As one of those serving on the front lines of the fight against poverty, I am in the best position to make a judgement on the happy life of Xinjiang people. The Kirgut Village I am serving is a village in Kirgut Township of Hejing County. It was a key poverty-stricken village in the autonomous region. In the past, the herdsmen of this village mainly depended on grazing for their livelihoods, migrating to wherever water and grass are available all year round. With poor living conditions and low living standards, they suffered from extreme poverty throughout the year. In recent years, however, under the strong leadership of the CPC Central Committee, and with the joint efforts of officials and masses of all ethnic groups, they strive to develop livestock breeding, tourism with local features among others, which greatly improves their livelihood.

I have grown up in countryside and witnessed changes in Xinjiang. Take Ablikim Yakup, my long-time neighbor, as an example. His family with 7 people was very poor in the past. Benefiting from the Party’s preferential policies and with their own efforts, the 3 sons have bought trucks, going into transportation business and livestock breeding. Their life is thus becoming more and more happy and prosperous. Today’s happy life proves that only the great Communist Party of China can lead us to pursue a happier and better life.

As a saying goes, “only you yourself can tell whether the shoes are fit or not”. Only those who have really lived the life can tell whether it is happy or unhappy. Xinjiang is in its best period in history, with its residents living a safe and happy life in a beautiful environment. It is full of vibrancy and vitality. The people of all ethnic groups tightly embrace one and other like pomegranate seeds. Xinjiang people are fully guaranteed the rights to subsistence and development and other rights. Besides, the freedom of ethnic minorities including the Uygur to use their own languages is also fully protected. We can freely share articles and short videos recording moments of life or feelings in our own language on various social media, proudly showcasing to the world the fruitful development and happy life of today’s Xinjiang. Pompeo and Adrian Zenz, you ignored the united and stable Xinjiang society and the happy life of Xinjiang people. On the contrary, you disregarded and distorted facts, maliciously fabricated lies. You are a joke of the century.

Finally, I’d like to say that, whether the life is happy or unhappy, only those who have experienced it can make a judgement. As long as people of all ethnic groups are united closely, follow the pace of the Communist Party of China, and work diligently, our life will be more and more sweet and happy.
