URUMQI, Aug. 27 (Xinhua) -- Technicians in Kashgar, northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, have developed an automatic coach washing machine, which can clean a train's exterior in just 10 minutes.

It normally takes some 20 people more than one hour to do the job manually. While, similar to a drive-through car wash, the new facility has boosted maintenance efficiency.

In addition, the washing machine consumes only one cubic meter water to wash a whole train and cut the purchase cost of the cleaning equipment.

It was designed by eight fitters at the Urumqi branch of China State Railway Group Co., Ltd.
