The snow lotus of Tianshan mountains are in full bloom among the rock walls, crevices and shoals in the Boyilekedaban in the Tianshan Mountains of Mulei Kazakh Autonomous County, Changji Hui Autonomous Prefecture, NW China’s Xinjiang.
Snow lotus grows near the snow line of high mountains at an altitude of 2400-4000 meters. It belongs to the genus Saussurea of the Compositae and is a rare alpine flower species unique to Xinjiang. From July to August each year, the wild snow lotus in Tianshan Mountains of Xinjiang is in full bloom.
