Xinjiang Railway builds a fast lane for cotton transportation out of Xinjiang

(Shiliuyun/Xinjiang Daily, Reporter Lu Fengbao): The reporter learned from the China Railway Urumqi Group Co., Ltd. that Xinjiang’s cotton ushers in a bumper harvest, and Xinjiang’s railway departments at all levels are optimizing warehousing, loading and other aspects of work on the premise of ensuring transport safety. Through the fast lane of cotton transportation, 207,800 tons of cotton have been shipped since October, and the transportation of cotton out of Xinjiang has entered the first round of peak time.

On the morning of November 22, 2021, employees of the cotton warehouse of the Korla Freight Center of China Railway Urumqi Group Co., Ltd. are busy loading newly ginned cotton onto boxcars next to the railway platform at the Korla West Station in Korla, northwest China’s Xinjiang. "Due to strong market demand, our daily shipping volume is increasing." said Zhang Qing, business manager of Xinjiang Bingmian Runze Logistics Co., Ltd..

In order to ensure that the cotton is shipped out of Xinjiang as soon as possible, Xinjiang’s railway departments at all levels have expanded and improved the entire logistics service chain of cotton transportation, giving priority in terms of transport capacity in accordance with accurate information regarding customer's cotton storage and sales. "We make full use of empty vehicles to ensure cotton loading, seize market opportunities for customers, and shorten the waiting time of downstream enterprises." said Gong Peipei, deputy director of the marketing department of Korla Freight Center.

Xinjiang railway departments have also carried out a strategic cooperation with the national cotton trading market and cotton production and sales enterprises to facilitate the transportation of Xinjiang cotton out of Xinjiang, jointly optimizing and improving all links of railway transport, and provide one-stop "door-to-door" road-rail combined transport services to create a fast passageway for cotton transportation.
