The Dashimen Water Conservancy Project is located on the main stream of the Qarqan River in Qiemo County. It is one of the 172 major water conservancy projects in the country. It can control floods in the upper mountains, improve flood control standards, and provide clean energy to the State Grid Corporation of China in Qiemo County, greatly improving the electricity consumption conditions of people on both sides of the Qarqan River and effectively alleviating the seasonal water shortage problem of 340,000 mu of farmland in Qarqan River irrigation area, while carrying the safe water and electricity consumption of more than 70,000 people on both sides of the Qarqan River.

It is understood that since March 11, 2022, Dashimen Water Conservancy Project of Qarqan River has provided 22.5 million cubic meters of agricultural irrigation water for the Irrigation District of Qiemo County. With the improvement of the irrigation guarantee rate of the local government, the irrigation situation of spring drought, summer flood and water shortage in autumn in the downstream irrigation area is effectively solved, and the problem of sediment deposition in the channel is also solved.
