The construction of the Dashixia Water Conservancy Project is in full swing in Xinjiang

Xinjiang Dashixia Water Conservancy Project is one of the key projects in the mountainous area of Tarim River basin. It is one of 172 national major water conservancy projects for water-saving and water supply, one of the first batch of 12 major PPP pilot water conservancy projects of national level, and a key construction project in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. The total construction period of the project is 102 months, and the construction started in December 2017. It is planned that the initial reservoir impoundment will be implemented in October 2025, the first power generation with two units should be started in July 2026, and the construction will be completed in October 2026. After the completion of the project, it will end the history of the Aksu River Basin having no controllable regulating reservoir in mountainous areas, and will optimize the water resources allocation in the Tarim River Basin, alleviate the contradiction of spring drought and water shortage in the basin, eliminate flood and drought disasters, effectively implement ecological water transfer, playing an important role in promoting social and economic development in southern Xinjiang.
