White snow and bright sand create a beautiful scenery rarely seen in winter. "The snow that fell in the early morning began to melt since 12 a.m. and is expected to totally melt till noon." He Haixia, the director of the Marketing Department of Kumtag Desert scenic spot, said that this winter and spring, the scenic spot will launch two themed activities, namely, desert ice and snow tour and desert experience tour. The ice and snow tour will be launched on December 15, and the desert experience tour will be launched on December 10, and will last until February and March of next year respectively.

Watching snow in the desert needs luck, but experiencing ice and snow activities in the desert is the normal thing in winter. On the morning of the December 12, 2022, Xu Bing, the person in charge of the Sand Lake Recreation Area at the Kumtag Desert scenic spot, and the workers were busy repairing the ice surface and repairing the ice entertainment facilities. “The lake froze earlier than usual in 2022, and the ice is nearly 20 centimeters thick. Facilities for 14 projects, including ice sleighs, tubes, ice bicycles and ice sledges, have been put in place. We are looking forward to visitors coming here to experience the ice and snow.” He said.
