Fuman Oilfield, China's largest ultra-deep oilfield, has an annual output of more than 3 million tons of oil and gas

Tianshannet- Xinjiang Daily ( Reporter Yu Jiangyan, Correspondent Shou Jixiang) news: On December 23, 2022, the oil and gas output of Fuman Oilfield, China's largest ultra-deep oilfield, located in the hinterland of the Taklamakan Desert, exceeded the 3 million ton mark this year, reaching 3.0905 million tons, becoming the oilfield with the fastest production speed in deep exploitation in China and creating a new growth pole for China's crude oil reserves and production.

Fuman Oilfield is the largest ultra-deep-sea facies fractured cave-type carbonate reservoir discovered in China, with oil and gas resources exceeding 1 billion tons. Fuman Oilfield reservoirs are generally at ultra-depths of 7,500 meters to 10,000 meters, and have the features of ultra-deep, ultra-high temperature and ultra-high pressure that are rare in the world. Traditional oil and gas geology theories are basically "not applicable" here, conventional drilling techniques are basically "unsuccessful", and the difficulty of exploration and development is "rare in the world and only in China".

Guided by the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, Tarim Oilfield anchors the strategic goal of "comprehensively building China's largest ultra-deep oil and gas production base and taking the lead in building a Chinese-style modern world-class energy enterprise", entering the ultra-deep field and seizing the commanding heights of ultra-deep technological innovation.

Aiming at the core technical problems, Tarim Oilfield has accelerated the construction of "sharp tools" that would speed up drilling, improve production and efficiency, solved the problems encountered with many sets of complex rock formations that are difficult to drill such as huge thick igneous rock and gypsum rock salt, and withstood the extremely harsh well conditions of ultra-high temperature of up to 190 degrees Celsius and ultra-high pressure of 145 MPa, and nine 1,000-ton wells have been drilled in ultra-deep depths in the past two years, with a success rate of 100% in well development.

Strengthening engineering technology research, Tarim Oilfield has broken through the limits of ultra-deep benefit exploration and development, and built Fuman Oilfield into China's largest oilfield with a depth of over 7,500 meters and an oilfield with the best development benefit, ranking it as one of the "Top Ten Super Projects of Centrally-administered State-owned Enterprises" in 2021. This year, the crude oil production of Tarim Oilfield has increased tremendously, accounting for 60% of the increase in production of the entire Tarim Oilfield, providing a "Tarim Plan" for the efficient exploration and benefit development of China's ultra-deep oilfield.

The Tarim Basin is rich in carbonate oil and gas reserves, accounting for about 43% of the total oil and gas resources in the basin, and is an important strategic replacement for the increase in crude oil reserves and production in China. According to the plan, by 2025, Fuman Oilfield will be built into a large oilfield with an annual output of 5 million tons of oil and gas equivalent. At present, Tarim Oilfield has completed the feasibility analysis of drilling in the field of 10,000 meters depth, the technical reserves of high-temperature and high-pressure drilling of ultra-deep wells have also made phased progress, and three 10,000-meter-class ultra-deep wells are preparing to advance to deeper "underground Mount Everest" and create more "Chinese depth" in the deep oil and gas field.
