New Guinness Record was born -- It only takes 61 days to trek across the Taklimakan Desert

After trekking 1,220-km for 2 months, Ye Chenguang crossed the Taklimakan Desert in 61 days, 4 hours and 39 minutes, setting a new Guinness World Record at 17:39 on February 6, 2023.

The Guinness World Record Challenge 2022-2023 for the fastest single trek across the Taklimakan Desert challenge started at the fifth gate of the Tarim River in Ruoqiang County, Bayingolin Mongolian Autonomous Prefecture at 13:00 on December 7, 2022, and ended at the N39 Desert Adventure base in Markit County, Kashgar Prefecture, Xinjiang, China.

The Guinness World Record Challenge 2022-2023 for the fastest single trek across the Taklimakan Desert, which has submitted applications to Guinness World Headquarters in London since October 2020, is approved. The challenge for the fastest single trek across the Taklimakan Desert defined by the headquarter requires a single trek in the hinterland of the desert and the total time must not exceed 100 days. The success of the challenge transversely redefines the Taklimakan Desert, the “sea of death” in geography.

Ye Chenguang, the initiator and challenger of the challenge, is a domestic post-80s technical entrepreneur, an extreme sports expert and a freedom explorer. He leads his high-tech team to better promote and show the beautiful Xinjiang to the world through the desert crossing challenge.
