BEIJING, March 10 (Xinhua) -- Veteran striker Ai Kesen has travelled to South Korea for pre-season training with Chinese Super League side Chengdu Rongcheng after being dropped by China's national team.
Brazil-born Ai Kesen, also known as Elkeson, who had played for China in the 2022 FIFA World Cup Asian qualifiers, was called up by China's new head coach Aleksandar Jankovic in late February for a training camp in Haikou, Hainan Province.
However, the 33-year-old was soon dropped after he reportedly failed to pass a fitness test once inside the camp.
Jankovic made it clear that players who are not deemed fit enough will have no position in his team.
Ai Kesen chose to train with Chengdu Rongcheng after returning to China from Brazil, but has not yet signed a deal to play for the club.
