The main clothing, accessories, and handbags of this fashion show are designed with the patterns, colors, and modeling elements on the national first-class cultural relic -- the arm protector with the inscriptions of “Five stars appear in the East, sign of Chinese victory over the Qiang”, unearthed from the Niya Ruins in Hotan Prefecture, northwest China’s Xinjiang. They were designed and made by Sun Xiuqin, one of the top ten Chinese fashion designers in China, and chairman of the Xinjiang Fashion Designer Association.

“In addition to presenting the magnificence of the national treasure arm protector, we have also integrated the Atlas weaving and dyeing techniques of Uygur, which are the national intangible cultural heritage, into our design, embodying modern consciousness and realistic value of Chinese cultural heritage by means of innovation and integration,” said Sun Xiuqin.

The patterns of the “Five stars rise in the East” arm protector are displayed on navy blue acetate satin, which forms many exquisite dresses, and the jeans paired with a cultural shirt printed with the patterns of “Five stars rise in the East” arm protector makes a good combination of tradition and fashion. In the design of Atlas silk works, designers have used fabrics blended with various processes, such as manual weaving, technology of vegetable dyeing, digital printing, and used cutting designs that meet modern aesthetics to create diverse gowns and daily dresses, helping intangible cultural heritage enter people's daily lives.

Bahetiya Turson, an audience from Hotan Prefecture, just watched the dance drama “Five stars rise in the East” on March 12, 2023, and then watched the fashion show on site, which glutted his eyes. “Performers and designers have created so much interesting content based on the national treasure arm protector with rich imagination and excellent creativity, greatly enriching our life,” he said.
