Photo taken on April 9, 2023 shows tourists take photos in front of the “New Orient Express” train at the Urumqi Station in Urumqi, northwest China’s Xinjiang. At 21: 40 on the same day, the tourist train Y936 left the Urumqi railway station, which was the first “New Orient Express” of its kind in China this year. In recent years, to fully implement the strategy of “invigorating Xinjiang through tourism”, railway departments in Xinjiang have continuously promoted the brand of “traveling in Xinjiang by train”, and successively launched a series of special tourist trains, such as the non-stop tourism train from Urumqi to Kashgar, the passenger train for snow and ice travel and the passenger train “Apricot Blossom” from Urumqi to Turpan, to vigorously promote the transition of tourism in Xinjiang from “peak time for one season” to “prosperous all year round”. Railway departments in Xinjiang plan to launch 100 tourist-dedicated trains throughout the whole year, which will increase by more than 300% compared with 2022. (Photo by Zou Yi)
