Shiliuyun-Xinjiang Daily (Reporter Perezati Abudu) news: Piyalema Township is a famous “pomegranate township” in Hotan Prefecture, and is also one of the concentrated and contiguous areas for pomegranate cultivation in southern Xinjiang. The pomegranate planting area in Piyalema Township has expanded to 24,000 mu, with more than 400 technology demonstration households. Seventy percent of farmers’ income comes from pomegranates, which have become the “wealth fruit” and “happiness fruit” of farmers.

Local officials introduced that “Piyalema Township is located at the northern foot of the Karakoram Mountains and the southern edge of the Taklimakan Desert. It is a warm temperate continental arid climate with distinct four seasons and long sunshine hours. The soil is mainly clayey sandy soil. Its unique climate and soil conditions have created high-quality ‘Piaman’ sweet pomegranates.”
