On May 30, 2023, the drilling of Shendi Take 1 well, located in Shaya County, the center of Tarim Basin, was started. The design depth of the well is 11,100 meters. This is another technological feat of China, following the "Shenzhou manned spaceship and deep-sea manned submersible Jiaolong", marking the beginning of the "ten thousand meter era" for China's drilling ability to advance deeper into the Earth.
