On May 29, 2023, groups of ibexes appear in the Xiata Canyon of Zhaosu County, Ili Kazakh Autonomous Prefecture, northwest China’s Xinjiang. They forage on the cliff, performing the stunt of leap onto roofs and vault over walls.
Ibex is a national second-class protected animal that is good at climbing and jumping. It inhabits high plains and mountainsides at altitudes of 3,500 to 6,000 meters. Due to its ability to climb and jump, it is also known as the "elf on the rock". In recent years, Zhaosu County has continuously increased its efforts to promote and protect wild animals and plants, and the ecological environment has continued to improve.
