Recently, more than 14,000 mu of early-ripening Hami melons planted in Nanhu Township, Yizhou District, Hami City, northwest China’s Xinjiang, have grown well, and a good harvest is expected. Farmers are busy in the fields pruning, cleaning, and supporting the Hami melons (placing crushed grass, wheat straw, or fine soil beneath and around the plant roots in the melon field can help prevent the invasion of anthracnose and blight bacteria, promote proper fruit growth, and also provide some drought resistance and moisture retention benefits), and they also strengthen the field management. It is expected that the melons will be put on the market for sale at the end of June.
