E-commerce has broadened the sales channels of Atlas clothing in NW China’s Xinjiang

"Hi everyone, take a look at this beautiful Atlas clothing I'm holding in my hands. It combines modern elements with traditional styles, and it's both affordable and stylish. If you love it, hurry up and place your order." On July 8, 2023, Arzigul Dolat, a live streamer at Luopu County Tuuygu Clothing Co., Ltd., was busy livestreaming and promoting the clothing products she designed and produced on Douyin.

Arzigul Dolat, a 34-year-old villager from Otulaboshikan Village in Luopu Town, Luopu County, Hotan Prefecture, northwest China's Xinjiang, was born into a family of tailors. She has had a passion for fashion design since childhood and aspired to become a clothing designer. Influenced and encouraged by her father, Arzigul Dolat apprenticed under a renowned tailor in Hotan City and successfully completed her training after years of diligent practice. Her outstanding designs and exceptional skills have earned her an increasing number of customers.

In March 2016, with the support of local welfare policies, Arzigul Dolat founded Luopu County Tuuygu Clothing Co., Ltd. in Luopu County and registered the "Tuuygu" clothing trademark. To broaden her horizons and gain a better understanding of the national fashion market, she made multiple trips to cities like Beijing and Hangzhou to study fashion design. Upon returning, she combined traditional Atlas elements with modern fashion concepts to create unique and charming Qipao, suits, wedding dresses, and more. Her business flourished, and this year, with the guidance and training provided by the Luopu County E-commerce Office, she registered on Douyin. Through livestreaming, she promotes and showcases her clothing products.

Horigul Mattursun, a resident from Altay City in northwest China's Xinjiang, said, "I really love Atlas fabric. Whenever there are festivals or wedding celebrations, my sisters and I always get custom-made clothes designed and produced by Arzigul. When we wore the clothes she made, our friends would always compliment how well-fitted and beautiful they were."

"I met Arzigul in Luopu County when I traveled to Hotan. I was mesmerized by the Atlas Qipao she was wearing. I asked her where she bought such a Qipao, and she told me that she made it herself. She took me to her clothing store, and I ended up getting a custom-made Qipao. When I wore it, my friends were all amazed and said it looked stunning and beautiful," said Nurgul Jilil, a resident of Kashgar City.

Arzigul Dolat's clothing company used to sell its products in the store. However, now through livestream e-commerce, her clothing products are sold across the north and south of the Tianshan Mountains, as well as cities like Beijing, Tianjin, Anhui, Guangdong, and others.

"I visited Hotan and saw how beautiful the Atlas clothing looked on Uygur girls there, but I didn't know where to purchase them. Later, through Douyin, I was able to order custom-made clothing from her. The clothes she has designed and made are truly stunning," said Ms. Wang, a tourist from Beijing.

With the increasing number of orders, the number of Arzigul's staff has grown from the initial 3 people to 22 people, and their average monthly salary is around 3,000 yuan per person.

"We implement a piece-rate wage system, where the more work you do, the more you earn. Currently, I earn around 3,700 yuan per month," said an employee, Gojiamat Dolat.

"We currently livestream for 2 hours each day and receive around 20 to 50 orders daily. Our sales are doing well," said Arzigul Dolat. "In the future, we plan to expand our production scale and design a wider range of Atlas clothing series that cater to the aesthetic needs of modern individuals. We aim to make our Atlas clothing products popular nationwide and let more people fall in love with Atlas."
