Road of Prosperity: Xinjiang and Shaanxi join hands to promote Silk Road business development

Shiliuyun-Xinjiang Daily (Reporter Liu Donglai) news: On August 17, 2023, Xinjiang Daily “Road of Prosperity—Belt and Road Reporting Project” interview team set foot on Xi'an, the capital of northwest China's Shaanxi province. As the capital for 13 dynasties in Chinese history and the eastern end of the ancient Silk Road, Xi'an has vibrant vitality in every corner. Xi'an, where more than 12 million people live and work in peace and contentment, has created business opportunities everywhere, and the Silk Road spirit of mutual benefit and win-win cooperation has allowed the ancient city of Xi'an to develop continuously in the ten years since the Belt and Road Initiative was put forward. This city, as one of the oldest in China's history, manifests the Chinese people's practice of building a community with a shared future for mankind.

In the theme street of “The Longest Day in Chang'an”, which only came into operation last year but has already achieved great popularity, tourists from all over the world gather here to enjoy the brilliant prosperity. The "wine shop" run by a girl from Xinjiang is crowded with people, and the in-depth cultural implantation made this trip more attractive. At the site of the west-east gas transmission, a huge compressor emits a thrilling roar. There is a steady flow of natural gas from west to east with a small portion of which distributed here while most goes to the southeastern coast. The long pipeline network connects Central Asia, northwest China’s Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, the thousand-year-old ancient capital Xi’an, and the bustling southeast parts of China. The energy corridor injects surging development power into the whole of China. China-Europe freight trains leave Xi'an International Port with multifarious categories of goods and return back to this important hub city of the Belt and Road with foreign goods. The China-Europe freight train has made a number of "firsts" here. With ten years of development, China-Europe freight train has become an important engine for Xi'an to move forward rapidly, pushing the city to undergo rapid changes. This is the power of the times, and the dream of the Silk Road.
