On September 23, 2023, the "2023 Silk Road Food Feast" opened at the food court of Xinjiang International Grand Bazaar. This food feast is hosted by the China Cuisine Association, the Department of Culture and Tourism of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, the Department of commerce of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, and the People's Government of Urumqi Municipality. The food feast features the theme of "tasting delicious food and traveling to Xinjiang", where over a hundred entrepreneurs of national specialty catering brands and famous chefs showcase their exquisite cooking skills. The 6-day food feast consists of two major sections: catering and cultural tourism.
