Shiliuyun-Xinjiang Daily (Reporter Chen Qiangwei) news: On February 18, 2024, it was learned from the customs at the China-Kazakhstan Horgos International Border Cooperation Center (hereinafter referred to as the cooperation center) that during the Spring Festival holiday from February 12 to 17, the center received 65,000 visitors, 224 percent increase compared to the same period last year.

On February 12, 2024, the cooperation center reopened to welcome visitors after a 3-day closure. During the Spring Festival holiday, major duty-free shops in the cooperation center held promotional activities to attract a large number of tourists for shopping. On the same day, the number of visitors exceeded 8,000. As of February 17, 2024, the average daily foot traffic at the cooperation center during the Spring Festival holiday was about 11,000.
Tourist Shen Xinmei from Changji Hui Autonomous Prefecture came to the cooperation center with her family. “The center straddles the border between China and Kazakhstan, and we have bought a lot of duty-free goods here. It’s really worth coming,” Shen said.
Nulbul Ayitjan, deputy chief of the Customs Supervision Department at the China-Kazakhstan Horgos International Border Cooperation Center, signified that during the Spring Festival, customs provided enterprises with "24/7" customs clearance to fully ensure the goods replenishment of the stores in the cooperation center. To strengthen the supervision over goods sold in the cooperation center, customs intensified the inspection over the traceability codes affixed to goods entering the center, so that they are traceable.
