The company possesses an annual production capacity of processing 3,000 tons of fish. “We are preparing the first batch of products to be exported to the EU. Xinjiang, as an inland region of China, was previously thought to lack advantages in producing aquatic products. However, about 10 percent of our company’s annual output is exported and sold to Singapore, Malaysia and other Southeast Asian countries, which has gained wide popularity. Being officially registered in the EU will further expand our company's overseas market and enhance the reputation of Xinjiang aquatic products in a larger market,” said Wang Yuan, deputy manager of the company.

In addition to good quality, the support of different authorities has also contributed to the exports of Xinjiang aquatic products. In 2023, departments including the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Ministry of Commerce, and the China Council for the Promotion of International Trades organized all kinds of aquatic enterprises to participate in large-scale exhibitions, and specially helped enterprises connect with merchants from Asian and European countries with strong aquatic consumption capacity, to sign contracts and place orders.

In recent years, aquaculture has become a new way to help people in Xinjiang become well-off, and the amount of export production has increased year by year. Urumqi Customs has taken the initiative to find out the needs of the aquatic product enterprises in the area under their administration.

In order to help enterprises familiarize themselves with foreign markets and understand relevant national laws and regulations, Urumqi Customs has set up a special working group to guide enterprises to improve management ability and product quality, including the procedure from filing to daily supervision. Urumqi Customs has collected through multiple ways relevant information, such as the list of countries requiring overseas recommendation registration and their requirements and has helped enterprises explore new markets without overseas recommendation registration.

“We’re guiding three food export production enterprises to be registered in nine countries in Central Asia and Europe, to help enterprises explore the international market.” said Wang Haiyuan, deputy director of the department of enterprise management and inspection of Urumqi Customs.

Up to now, Urumqi Customs has recommended six enterprises to be registered overseas in 2023, and one has been officially registered and published in overseas countries and regions, which is in South Korea and the EU. A total of eight food export production enterprises in Xinjiang have obtained overseas official registration in eight countries and regions, which are in the EU, Japan, Canada, Saudi Arabia, etc.
