The largest hydropower project in NW China’s Xinjiang

Photo shows the Artash Water Conservancy Project in Kashi Prefecture, northwest China’s Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. The Artash Water Conservancy Project is located in the upper reaches of the Yarkant River in the Karakoram Mountains and is the largest-scale water conservancy project in Xinjiang. The completion of this project has completely solved the problems of millennial floods, spring droughts and water shortages in the Yarkant River basin, nourishing millions of people downstream.
